Anti-Sanctuary City Bill: Texas Senate Bill 4

On February 2nd, Attorney Powers, along with hundreds of other advocates, went to the Texas Capitol to testify against Senate Bill 4 (SB 4).
SB 4 will require all Texas law enforcement agencies to comply with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) detainers. The detainers are requests from ICE to hold an arrested person in custody while ICE investigates their immigration status. This is in an effort to make Texas an anti-sanctuary city.
Immigration advocates hoped that the Bill would not go through to the Senate for a vote. However, despite their zealous efforts, the Texas Senate voted the Bill through on February 7th. Next, immigration experts believe that the bill will be voted out of the Senate upon final reading, and then quickly move to the House. Now is the time to start calling your local representatives in opposition to this bill. Included below is a list of representatives that should be contacted.
