The Powers Law Group seeks a full-time Spanish-speaking Associate Attorney to join our team.
The Powers Law Group seeks a vibrant, dedicated, and hardworking full-time Spanish-speaking Associate Attorney to join our dynamic team. Our firm has represented nationals from more than 43 countries in their asylum application process in the US and we practice before multiple immigration courts around the US. The ideal candidate will have a passion for advocating for clients, especially in the realm of Immigration Court and with Asylum cases.
The Associate Attorney will handle a wide-range of immigration matters to assist with the Firm’s removal-defense, asylum, family-based, and waivers caseload. Primary duties involve consulting with and advising clients, representation before the Immigration Courts, preparing and submitting petitions and applications, extensive legal research and writing of declarations, motions, briefs and appeals, as well as attending USCIS interviews.
- Providing legal services to those seeking: primary for asylum, but when needed deportation and removal, and family-based petitions;
- Performing legal research and writing for motions, briefs and appeals;
- Conducting legal consultations upon demonstrating commitment and skill to do so;
- Assessing eligibility for immigration benefits;
- Staying abreast of immigration law and procedure updates and changes;
- Mastering the law and becoming a thought leader in the field;
- Providing excellent customer service and focus on communication with clients;
- Assist in supervising legal assistants and their caseloads including conducting regular case statuses;
- Mentoring and training legal assistants, law clerks, and interns;
- Reviewing cases prepared by legal assistants before final review by supervising attorney;
- Attending interviews (I-130, I-485, I-751, N-400, and I-589, etc.);
- Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law;
- Representing the firm by participating in AILA events/ AILA liaison meetings, attending advocacy events, and general community goodwill organizations that furthers the mission of the firm;
- Promoting the firm and your knowledge and the firm’s knowledge and expertise by writing articles on behalf of the firm and speaking at conferences on immigration related topics,
- Helping in management of firm, as needed; and
- Participating in business development, marketing the firm and bringing in new business.
Requirements:
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of the Texas Bar. Membership in another state bar will be considered.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a practicing immigration attorney.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, GSuite, Filevine, Lawmatics.
- Fluency in English and Spanish (speaking, writing, and reading).
- Reliable transportation, valid TDL, and evidence of insurability.
- Experience in Employment-Based and Family-Based immigration is a plus but not necessary.
Salary
- Base starting at $75,000 but based on experience
- Employee benefits available after successful completion of introductory period
