Larysa Polunin

Larysa is a foreign-trained lawyer, who immigrated from Ukraine to Canada with her family in 1999, and then moved to Houston, Texas, to continue her professional career in 2012. Larysa holds a Master in Jurisprudence (J.M.) in Administrative Law from the National University Odesa Law Academy in Ukraine (1998), and a Master of Laws in Energy, Environment and Natural Resources from the University of Houston Law Center (2018). Larysa also attended the University of Calgary in Canada, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree (2007), and IE University in Madrid, Spain, graduating with a Master in Business Administration (2015).

Ms. Polunin is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Before joining Powers Law Group, P.C., she worked at a multi-state law firm, specializing in the areas of creditor rights protection and commercial litigation. Larysa is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the American Bar Association (ABA), and the Houston Bar Association (HBA). Upon her admission to the University of Houston Law Center, Ms. Polunin became a recipient of the 2016-2017 Association of International Petroleum Negotiators’ (AIPN) student scholarship award. After graduating from law school, Larysa volunteered to work on a project with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC).

Ms. Polunin is a native speaker in Ukrainian and Russian. She brings her passion for Immigration and Nationality Law, her international background, and her diverse professional experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Larysa enjoys spending time with her two daughters, and she also likes traveling to learn about different cultures. As a part of her studies in Spain, Larysa participated in the Global Immersion Week in Shanghai, China, and the Impact Learning Treks in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. As a result of her life experiences, Larysa has developed compassion for those in need, and a high aspiration to advocate for others.
